Works well with both hand and machine tools. Used for cabinet-making, joinery, boat building and veneers. |
Heartwood: |
Pinkish brown to reddish brown. Darkening after exposure. Has cedary odour. |
Sapwood: |
Pinkish to white. |
Grain: |
Generally straight, some interlocked. |
Texture: |
Fine to medium. |
Durability: |
Durable heartwood, weathers well. |
Drying: |
Easy. Pre-heating to control gum release is recommended. |
Movement: |
Slight. |
Strength: |
Considered nearly as strong as Central American Mahogany. |
